@PATRICK SWAYZE 2.0: No, Half Life 2 is better because of the sense of atmosphere and the surreal fascist landscape continues to stand as unique even years later. It's better because it offers compelling characters and creative gameplay situations. It's better because it tried many new things. It's better because

@kneeofwisdom: I think the night-off thing is great and I should give it a shot with my sig O, but we spend a lot of non-tech time together at present.

@Cptn.PaxtonAstypalaea(ColonialMarine): It really sucks that there's no online multi. I have a slight suspicion they'll implement it on XBL, which means I'll happily buy it again at the end of the month.

@lutz: Good luck and press onward!

@Toshi: Halo (it's the most mediocre FPS I've ever played and I've always hated the general "feel" of it), Final Fantasy X (hated the voice acting and blitzball which made me give up on it), MGS4 (and man did I get shit on the last time I said that) and Ninja Gaiden 2 on the 360 (although I loved the first one).

This is a bittersweet bit of news. I love Tim Schafer and I'm more than willing to throw his people my cash, but when the news first broke that he's taking a siesta from (...well, the words I heard in my head were:) "real games" I felt I understood his scheme. Why spend years working on games that are more or less

Playing Scott Pilgrim with my girlfriend tonight and it's the best 10 bucks I've spent in a while. I was gonna wait for it to be on XBL but considering there's no online multiplayer anyway I figured to just jump on early.

blah blah game is awesome blah blah screw the haters blah blah...i'm boring myself with my own disagreement.

@Sakilla: Sharing the love yo. I think this game got demolished by reviewers for the most part...even the good reviews I've read (Gamespot's, for example) include a tremendous amount of negative commentary. And I think everyone is batshit crazy.

I'm really torn about Scott Pilgrim. I've got a 360 and a PS3 but all my online buds are on live...my only hope is that Castlevania is so friggin' good I'll be distracted with that until Scott Pilgrim comes out on live.

my mind is a little blown. But the crappy distrusting part of myself insists that this can't really be done.

@Maveritchell: I was open to the idea that this whole thing was a joke or at a minimum not to be taken seriously, I just didn't think it was interesting or amusing. The pizza slap thing especially wasn't even funny for not being funny.

This was phenomenally insipid. He barely did anything. Although the URDB seems like some kind of weird back-patting collective that is around just to celebrate people which is OK in an "everybody in the class gets a trophy" kind of way.

@stone500: Man I haven't commented on Kotaku in a good long while - see shitty new job and crappy days of late - but the second I do I get the thoughtful, measured replies that signal the quality of the folks who haunt this slice of the internet.

I was diggin Brutal Legend until the first concert scene. I'm utterly NOT an RTS player and I seriously found the mechanic so alien, off-putting and disconnected I haven't powered it on since.

The Jak & Daxter series was viciously good fun, especially 2, and I would gladly pay money for a slicker compilation version. Shadow of the Colossus and Ico is so fucking obvious at this point it's a joke. Just. Do. It. Already. Especially SotC, that game is dying for a stronger machine.

I'm playing Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption, and gonna finish it off with a little RDR.

@Ueziel: I cringe deeply, remembering how psyched I was about this show as a kid.

Finally topped it off today. I was kind of gritting my teeth through it until Episode 4. For me, the game really opened up at that point in terms of narrative...and I have to admit I really enjoyed it by the ending. Not sure if this is the masterpiece I expected, but neither was it the travesty the earlier hours

I might be down for this, but I just beat it today...do you guys think this will work on a restart in Nightmare mode? I'll keep it spoiler-free...
