I dig the list in a lot of ways but I also think it's kind of a waste of time to think about games in these compartmentalized terms. The truth is that there are plenty of games that can break or bend one's expectations of what is "good"; surprising the gamer with this almost alchemical reaction reveals some of

@DocSeuss: I'm trying to dig it on that level...but personally I find that Max Payne's appreciative noir has stood the test of time very well. I haven't seen anything in Alan Wake - so far - that I would describe as similarly "having legs" so to speak. It's mostly very clumsy. Max Payne had plenty of clumsy moments

@burjeffton: A store in NYC broke street...but trust me, it was not easy to find. All the usual suspects apparently did not get it in yet.

I'm up to episode 3 in Alan Wake.......and I kind of hate it. And let me tell you, I've been waiting for it with baited breath.

Just dropping more love for this game. It really grows on you. I copped it early and as I started to play it I kept repeating myself the mantra "Just beat this and sell it next week and all will be well, no buyer's remorse."

@boredknight: If that was supposed to be sarcasm or a meme, I don't care. You're a fucking twat. And I'll approve your comment with this response just to tell you that.

@Goufunaki22: I wholeheartedly agree...the campaign is a little peculiar and the pacing is off (and the story is abysmal but kinda funny for this reason), but the slot machine is addictive and I find that I'll turn it on, play a MP match or two, then see a weapon I really want and find my buddies to go through the

@Nethlem: Yeah I'm no dope...I was being somewhat sarcastic. This is one of those instances where I know that I would've downloaded it, played it on a hacked box, and then bought it legit right after. It's moments like this that make me consider buying a hacked Box...but I've held out this long...

@xMindPrintsx: Will do man...I'm hearing reports of it being out in some upstate NY stores including Target, but no confirmation.

@Save me: Sorry you didn't like Demon's Souls or SMT. I'm an enormous fan of Atlus and I especially love their translation efforts.

I tried this shoutout for help yesterday, but no one heeded my call...

@Walking Eye!: That was the real shit right there. Yup yup yup yup yup-yup-yup.

This reminds me that I've been meaning to finish Remender's awesome Strange Girl series, which ended at the 4th book. It was kinda Brutal Legend meets Left Behind, if that makes sense, but they don't beat you over the head with the religion stuff. It's worth a look.

Hey NYCTakuites, little question here....

Just in case no one has seen this, I need to show you the greatest time waster, scrub-that-retro-itch thing I found all day:

I picked up Lost Planet 2 last thursday, a store in my hood broke street. I played it the first day for about an hour and was absolutely mortified by the painfully incompetent friendly AI.

@crabperson: Yeah I jumped on board the Amazon $20 gift card train for it...it's the first preorder I've gambled since Alone in the Dark for the 360, but all it took was ONE video about the fascinating multiplayer mode...I'm excited...

@Benevolence: You peeps are effing CRAZY. I had no idea about this, but it's been a good long time since I fired up Episode 2 on my old, sadly now dead PC.

This was pretty awesome, and it's about one of my heroes, and it's video game-related, so check it out if you got 23 minutes and change.
