These kids. These wonderful, amazing, brave kids. Michael, I hope against hope that you’re wrong this time.

Now playing

I Loooooove Rick Mercer! I was lucky enough to attend one of his shows a couple of years ago and he was super nice. He actually does a quick meet and greet with everyone who wants to after the show and takes pictures. And you’re right, he’s very short!

I’m in Toronto where we see celebs in the wild but you’re right, you don’t approach them. But not because we don’t care...because it would be so uncool and the antithesis of being Canadian.

That quote about Charlie Rose is from a THR article that goes on about what a sad and lonely life he leads since he was outed as a predator who used his power and fame to harass women. At the end of the article, there’s this precious bit about how sad and lonely his life is as he looks to expand his portfolio of

Why is Patti LuPone being so mean? It’s completely unnecessary to point to a specific actor when you’re trying to make a general point about how movie acting doesn’t translate as well to the stage. What she did was pretty shitty.

On Twitter I only follow people and organizations I enjoy hearing from or learn from—hence, I follow Monique Judge ;-).  So it was with some skepticism that I received a follow from a @usblm. When I couldn’t verify what it was, I let it go and as it turns out, it’s been suspended.

Another common way to measure effort is “Full-Time Equivalent” or FTE.

The real issue here is the bit about “the other characters in the movie are fictitious”. The producers have used this as an excuse to change the reporter Robin Doolittle, who broke the story in real life from a woman to a man.

Same - Been commenting here for years. Ungreyed at The Root but not at Jezebel where I’ve been commenting for far longer.

Make something new that can stand on its own merits.

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!! Will Essie Davis be back?

Oh god. I wanted so much to like Atomic Blonde but I thought it was just pretty people posing. The fight sequences were great, but that was about it. It was awful.

I only eat from my little brother’s plate or my husband’s with permission. Because I feel like I’ve earned the right dammit. But even my best friend’s plate is sacrosanct even though we were roomates for 3 years at one time. So yeah, I don’t get it either.

I watched the first two episodes of Roseanne since they were back-to-back, just to see how they handled the issue of race in the election. When they whitewashed it, I lost interest and stopped watching in the middle of the second episode. I’ll never go back.

I just love the bitterness. This is brilliant.

I’m afraid to find him attractive because I keep fearing that he’ll turn out to be another Mel Gibson (who I had a huuuuge crush on for years until I discovered he was a misogynist with religious nutbaggery). I just have a weird feeling...

I’m a scuba diver and very conscious of the harm that chemicals do the marine environment. So I wear full-length wetsuits to protect my skin against the sun (and against accidental contact with pretty much anything else) and a hat to protect my face while on the boat. Everybody lives.

Are you kidding? Of course! We even had a neighbour who grew them in his garden! (I kid you NOT). But the loofah was an every-day thing. That scrubbing mitt was for a really deep clean.

In the Middle East where I grew up, we used something similar to the Salux cloths you mention, except much thicker, like a canvas texture with a finer weave. I remember my mom scrubbing me down with just water and those cloths as I watched my own skin peel away. I have never felt so clean since.

I’ve been to London once, unfortunately in January after having spent a week in Spain; the juxtaposition of the two countries is not flattering for one them, at least from a tourist’s perspective. I found it somewhat alienating, and that’s also compared to other cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Montreal, and a
