Try single-malt scotches from Speyside or Lowland scotches; they tend to be much lighter on the smoke / peat flavours. Try a Glenlivet or Cragganmore and if you prefer a little sweet, try a port cask finish.

Please, please, please, for all that’s holy, do NOT make Johnny Walker your first taste of scotch. Please try some good single malt like Cragganmore, a Speyside whisky (not too peaty, not too sweet) or if you do prefer something sweeter, try a single-malt aged in port or sherry casks.
