I think the current state of affairs in the United States has led to a lot more glorification and idealizing of other countries and cultures. Yeah, we have always looked at others for influence, but the current love affair with places that aren't "home" seems to be growing.

So I'm headed to Detroit to see some old friends on Thursday. Gonna be there for a week. Ideas? Good places to drink too much?
