Trained fighter, including hand-to-hand and with staff type weapons. I think they added that trooper with the riot shield and electrostaff to demonstrate that Finn would have already had training that could somewhat translate to lightsaber combat (the trooper was also a reference to one of the earlier Mcquarrie

Finn was plausible - as demonstrated by the earlier fight, stormtroopers are trained in electrostaff combat - not too big of a leap that he could at least defend himself for a bit, particularly with Ren badly injured.

The line was wholesale taken from ROTJ (but the order was rearranged to have “you have that power too” at the end rather than start). Hamill rerecorded the same dialog and they layered it under the ROTJ audio.

Well, she does remember who left her there. She would have already known.

Well said

A 15-year-old boy got hit by a bus in London after he fell off his hoverboard and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Oscillation Overthruster showed up at least a half dozen times in Star Trek as other props or integrated into set decoration, too (a joke on the part of the prop people)

Ha, you’re right. They incidentally also wore leftover Reman costumes.

Yeah, that works. And on top of that, with the blanket ban on genetic modification/enhancement, they can’t do any further experimentation on lab grown blood either.

Looks like the Jem’hadar and the Remans had a baby

That’s a fair point. It really hasn’t been the Federation of the old shows.

See, you get it. I hope he does

The Federation’s philosophy is non-interference above all else. You might even call it their “prime directive.” Is Lin implying that it is something else? Something like freedom-spreading imperialism? I hope not...

The long-range transport did previously appear in TNG and it was hand-waved off as unreliable and dangerous, having been abandoned years before, even if it was technically feasible occasionally. That works for me here too. Khan blood though, let’s just not speak of that.

I understand that art is still produced during wartime. In your example, there were no invasions or significant attacks on the US mainland during WWII that prevented Disney from continuing to work through the war (though, clearly, some of the content changed from what it might have been). From the way the Eugenics

Naw, they were done by 1996 but I like the optimism :p

Huh. So I retract my original post. Apparently in the new canon, the Eugenics Wars was not covert at all (the book that implied that was directed at the old continuity): “In the Star Trek: Khan comic book series associated with the Abramsverse, the creative team went with a portrayal of the wars as being an open

According to the show, the Eugenics Wars killed 30-37 million people and involved most of the planet being conquered by various augments who then squabbled among themselves. Sure, maybe the song would have been made, but that seems less likely to happen under a global warzone. MTV would not be a priority.
