At least they use extensive custom scripting to not look so...cookie-cutter.

The biggest challenge with this game is taking it seriously because I can tell with one glance that it was made in RPG Maker...
Also, for all of those who are being reactionary and feel that they don't want gaming to be anything other than a time-waster, I say this: there's a REASON film is called "arts & entertainment." It can be BOTH. Game experiences that push the boundaries of narrative can co-exist alongside competitive titles and casual…
Only one I don't agree with on this list is #6. I think involving the film world's a great idea. Hollywood? Not so much. They have as many problems as gaming does, and dragging that into the mix will only give strength to the rising corporate atmosphere in game development.
I do have to say - I own pretty much every major commercially successful console released in North America (and some flops as well), and the original PlayStation has to be my favorite tied with the PS2. Its library of great games is simply staggering.
Except it's a myth that you always have to be online for Steam's games to work. It's a pain in the ass, but Steam does have an offline mode that lets you play games while not connected to the internet.
What I'm truly curious about is the hardware. Mario Kart Arcade GP 1 and 2 ran on the Triforce, a board co-developed by Nintendo/Sega/Namco which was essentially a Gamecube with a hard drive and more RAM. Since that board is ancient, I wonder what they'll be using for THIS one...as the article mentioned, will they…
Oh boy oh boy. If they do this and Sony is wise enough to pick up on the fact that neither of these is a good idea, I have a feeling that MS is gonna get a rude awakening this generation.
Somebody mentioned that they should do movies based off of the Jedi Knight trilogy of games, and I nearly keeled over with glee at the idea.
Oh wow. x.x' that's even worse.
Does such a thing exist?
No problem, everything's fine.

The thing is that FFXIII reinvented itself poorly. I admire it for trying, though.
Idk. Call me a traditionalist (and I'm no platform fanboy, I own a TON of consoles), but there's a sense of fun in the whole thing for me, and the jabs exchanged really do re-energize gamer culture - something I think is really in need of happening.
Unfortunately, with the way complex processor architectures have evolved, it's quite difficult to do affordable backwards compatibility...
"Platform wars suck"? Oh, I think they're great!
Truth, to the point where I had to ask ._.'
Parasite Eve is anything but traditional, if you try it out. Not a game like it since.
As much as I'd like to stick up for them... they pretty much wrote the book on how to not do a party fighter.
