Unless they pull off some miracle, they're honestly not going to have the AAA support they need to compete with the PS4 and Xbone out of the gate. Linux ports take time and money for companies that they may not be willing to spend on an unproven platform, and the big Western publishers like Ubisoft, EA, Activision,…
The discussion of modular devices like consoles, phones, etc. has been around forever. There are two major problems with the concept in practice:
This is a problem. Game budgets should not be out of control like this for any reason whatsoever.
And having access to a bunch of games optimized for phones would be any different?
"A console like this, running stock Android with the full Play Store, would be pretty damn great."
So if you hate me because I consult on free-to-play games there is only one way to make my job obsolete. You have to vote with your dollars. You have to make working on pay-to-play games a viable alternative. So go buy a shrink wrapped copy of Dragon’s Crown. Buy into early access for Cannon Brawl on Steam. Support…
The only thing that bothers me is that we've seen the same two gameplay areas over and over again since the original reveal. When are we going to see some new stages to get a better idea of what the game is actually like?
Doesn't take a genius to know that this many complete reversals so close to a console's launch - when the OS has likely been finalized - is not going to be an easy thing to implement.
Xbox Live goes down a ton, that one Sony outage was just notable for its length. I wouldn't trust Microsoft's servers as far as I could throw them, either.
Do you realize the number of day one patches this thing will need?
Preorder numbers mean nothing, and I'm talking about how MS handles the platform post-day one. I expect many server outages and a lot of stuff not working.
I swear to god, all this backpedalling shows just how desperate Microsoft is, and I have a feeling that launch is going to be a complete disaster...
The issue is that sales always lag at the end of a console generation throughout history, and this one has just far overstayed its welcome. This is a pattern that's happened time and time again and people have just forgotten it because of the hullaballoo mobile has made.
I don't understand why people are still so pessemistic about this new generation of consoles. They're more affordable than the last generation which sold gangbusters, they've got more robust features for the user such as recording gameplay without the need for any special equipment, they're a true next-gen leap…
Holy shit, it's mega impressive that he was able to make the Vectrex push that hard. Quite a powerful system for its time.
It's strange... Ricitellio has been quite reasonable ever since he left EA. It's almost like he was a Dr. Breen... a voice of reason, enslaved by a higher power and forced to do evil...
Ranging from meh to great jobs on the backgrounds, AWFUL job on the sprites...
One hideous white page to another hideous white page... Gawker's mandatory six-month-redesign hard at work
Somebody familliar with Japan tell me this. With the Abe administration bringing Japan's economy out of the tank, is the popularity of the LDP raising right-wing conservative fervor in Japan?
