I typed that comment after taking a break from a delightful round of X-COM.

Blame 9/11 for a lot of cut content.

Want to know why I'm not terribly impressed with Far Cry 3?

The story changing to after MGS4 still pisses me off, with MGS2 being my favorite MGS.

My problem's just the opposite, I think. I've played so much stuff that's so much better than what the AAA studios are churning out that I find less and less AAA games appealing...the corporate whirlpool in this industry is really draining away the innovation.

"For a second, let’s compare SMB to Fez, an indie game that actually lived up to its hype"

How is FarCry 3 original at all? I'd like to know.

Wise words from Gabe here. The biggest barrier into the world of PC gaming has been the relatively "high" learning curve (relative to consoles, anyway) of configuring and setting up your hardware. If that barrier is eliminated (in the way Gabe is proposing, for instance), then the PC gaming market will grow even more.

Yes, technology allows for greater interactivity. But it's what we DO with that interactivity, rather than what we are ALLOWED to do, that creates originality.

...except technology wasn't what defined great films at all, ever. And film too is a visual medium.

Yeah, you're right, sorry about that.

...but that's just technology. What they did with it had no character or distinctive traits. That's like saying a TV show is original because it's got a midget actor.

If you were careless, then yeah, that could be a problem.

Yes and no. A cartridge CAN be made to work by blowing on it IN A CERTAIN INSTACE - that is, dust preventing a good connection.

In short, the games industry is so culturally bankrupt that we'd rather play amusing little doohickeys now than slog through the latest uninspired AAA title.

Yes, actually, it was organized trolling. All from /v/ as a matter of fact, I watched it happen.

;__; stop taunting me with this game, Kotaku...I'll never get to play it...

The problem is that's a what-if. Trolls have always existed throughout history, and they will always exist as long as they are given anonymous methods of communication. You can't fix that problem any other way than ignoring them.

Want a great example that does none of the things you mentioned?

Yes, movies are media too. They're called "arts and entertainment" for a reason.
