I'm going to be spending my life trying my hardest to prove you wrong. They're media now, they've evolved beyond toys.

Femshep to a certain extent, although that's really dictated by the player.
It could REALLY go either way. I was distressed by the whole vulnerability theme they had running through the trailers, and the whole "rape scene" debacle certainly didn't help matters. However, I will withhold my judgement until the final product's out and we can really see what it's all about.
While male tropes are certainly a thing, I generally see men get more of a RANGE of characters in video games than women do.
The issue is that casinos and sports aren't media (although I'll hold out a caveat on the latter, because of how some will argue - with good reason - that professional sports have morphed into media), and video games are.
When I said that the credibility of feminist gamers has been hurt, I was attempting to refer to the vocal online community of said feminist gamers who have really embraced the get-mad and aren't doing themselves any favors.
I will be the first person to say that, for video games to continue maturing as a medium, female character roles in gaming MUST be expanded upon and broadened in scope. The current limitations to "eye candy", "vulnerable", "man with boobs", and "femme fatale" are so tired that they're dragging down both video games…
If you think this is nuts, check out this guy's other game. Eastern Mind: Lost Souls of Tong Nou. It's downright terrifying but it really gets into a lot of (abstracted) spiritual philosophy that's alien to the West. An excellent adventure game, you can emulate it in DOSBox.
As much as the bro mentality can make games fun, I (from the perspective of somebody that wants to MAKE games) think that the amount of games catering to bro culture REALLY needs to be stepped down. Call me a party pooper, but it really does play a big role in reinforcing the "video games are toys" stereotype in our…
But anime DVD sales have been in constant freefall around the world for the past decade, particularly in the US. Hell, even Bandai couldn't take the pressure. Piracy really was to blame, as unfortunate as it is.
Oh, I think we're ALL sick of it, and we've all been sick of it for ages. The anime industry really needs to get its shit together and start picking up the slack it dropped from the first half of the 2000's.
While I understand that this may contribute to some peoples' livelihood, I find it rather sad that content creators on Youtube now are so concerned with making money from it...it used to all be for the fun of it.
This REALLY reminds me a lot of Amiga demoscene (which, being from a Russian team, doesn't surprise me). I like what I'm seeing.
Call me a traditionalist, but "Crisp Flash" generally looks like garbage to me. The only truly good Flash animation I've seen is true frame-by-frame flash done by some animators like EgoRaptor, Harry Partridge, etc.
WHAT? FUCK EVERYTHING ;_____;
Except I don't do that, and I find the people that do to be pretty annoying too.
Harry Partridge, for instance.
Oh, they're just as bad, too.
Eh, we've had them in the past and they did very badly.
OH, and for the record, I have one giant beef with this article:"sharp and expressive flash animation"
