Agreed. The fact that nearly nobody has an AM radio anywhere but in their car and that it might be the last lifeline in the event of something tragic - it seems like a reasonable expectation that all cars would continue to have it.
Everyone (and every “thing”) must follow the laws of the land. There are ways for laws to be changed if you disagree with any of them.
The bus driver was committing suicide.
Funny you should mention that. Cedar Point plays the Star Spangled Banner at the open of the park and you will get dirty looks if you don’t stop, take your hat off, and pay your respects to Jesus and the American flag during that time. Still - totally worth it for the coasters.
My daughter and I were just at the “Roller Coast” (Cedar Point) a couple weeks back. Unfortunately, Top Thrill 2 is still down. However, the park is a roller coaster lovers dream.
I feel honored just to hear that engine in a YouTube video. A true automotive symphony.
FWIW - the gas taxes only cover half* of the cost of the road maintenance. The Feds cover the other half out of income tax which everyone (but the rich or unemployed) pays. And some states already have ways to gouge EV owners - such as Washington (State) where EV owners get charged for 14K miles of tax when they…
Have automakers just decided that the penalty for breaking emissions rules are so low that they don’t care? 146 million hardly sounds like something that GM would concern themselves about.
Here in Washington (State) the reservations sell fireworks and the police will sit on the main road pulling people over. Again, though, anyone with half a plan will easily figure out a way to not be caught.
Not really. Companies have been using battery backup technology since the first server was created in the seventies and it has not been an issue yet. Ignoring the chemistry differences (battery types that do not have these problems are what is typically used) the BEV fires appear to be happening due to a crash that…
All of the charging BEV fires I have seen have been based on significantly higher voltages than 220V. Unless you have a news article I missed, the fires are not happening in home garages.
On sale - cheap:
FWIW (not much) some states require new drivers take driver education classes in order to get a license and sometimes those classes are actually good. Still - it doesn’t stop stupid.
Thanks to the Yugo, Tesla owners can take solace in the fact that their vehicles are not the worst.
When I had to drive I would just continue driving my 2001 Honda Prelude, but I would prefer most of my travel be done on rail.
PR is why he is asking the shareholders to award him 56 billion dollars. But, given the state of Elon’s reputation, he really isn’t asking for enough.
I cannot imagine how such a thing would work. Can you name an example of something hitched to a vehicle that powers their own wheels without any guidance from the vehicle it is attached to? That is potentially much more complicated then a universal battery extender connection.
It would make sense but there is a lot of work to overcome the technical hurdles of connecting an additional battery resource cleanly to the existing EV supply.
