I’ve been on about six dates with this guy I like a lot. We’ll call him Tom. Tom is the lead singer/ukulele player in a band. He is a feminist. He shares my politics and social beliefs. He thinks I’m very cool. He has pretty eyes and perfect teeth. He also just got divorced about two months ago and his step-daughter…
I’m so relieved to report that my sister-in-law had a healthy baby this evening. It took nearly 24 hours, but he was finally delivered about an hour ago. His head was intact, and he’s not in the NICU. I’m so happy for her.
My sister-in-law is laboring. I’ve mentioned her before. She had to have a late term abortion after she found out that her fetus did not have a brain. It was an ordeal for many reasons, not the least of which was that her state has very restrictive rules about abortions which led her to need to use the help of an…
A couple of months ago I participated in Jillian Powers’ I Woke Up Like This (IWULT) project [NSFW] here in Denver. It’s all about body positivity and sharing stories about our bodies. She hasn’t posted my personal story yet, but the shoot was very positive and a fun experience.
I was trying to get my ex-husband to commit to either pay some child support or take our son for some extra time each week, when our conversation was derailed by him bringing up SJWs and me going off on a feminist rant.
I suck at business. I’m trying a new avenue of income —t-shirts— and so far I have sold one. It’s only been a couple of weeks, and I frankly suck at promotion too.
I know I shouldn't read the comments, but I was curious to see what people had to say when Jillian Powers' project made it to the fourth page of Reddit.
A feminist photographer is coming to my city in March. I happen to know a couple of people who follow her project "I Woke Up Like This," and they got me the hookup.
Some friends and I spent a bit of time this evening creating a Hallmark Movie Blurb Generator. Some of my favorites:
My rent at my new place is much higher than it was at my old place, but I figured that was fine because my ex had been at his job for a few years and was pretty good about child support payments. Unfortunately, he is unemployed at the moment.
This has not been a great year for mental health in my household. In September I had to confront my hoarding while trying to move out of a large two bedroom apartment into a small one bedroom. I sent out a message on Facebook asking for help and my friends came through. A couple of weeks ago they had an intervention…
I just posted this on my Facebook:
I'm pretty sure I'm in perimenopause. After 30 years of clockwork periods (except when I was pregnant or nursing), I've had light spotting for two days and then nothing two months in a row. I'll be going to the doctor next week to confirm.
I've been very busy for the past couple of weeks and have put off a very important task: breaking up with my boyfriend of several months. Now the day has come and I have to decide in the next hour whether to drive up there and do it in person or do it over the phone.
Thanks everyone who pitched in with advice for me when I was too stressed to think clearly. I asked my landlady for an extra two weeks and she kindly agreed. I'm so relieved. I did find a place to stay temporarily, but the woman called me "the right kind of people" and then tried to friend me on Facebook. That felt a…
I was having some serious problems with depression. My apartment got out of hand. Possibly not coincidentally, my landlady decided that she wanted to remodel the apartment and gave me three months notice to move out. Very generous, very kind.
Yesterday my boyfriend changed his relationship status on Facebook to show that he is in a relationship with me. People reacted like we just got engaged or something! Lots of congratulations and ruminations on love. Is this weird, or does this happen to everyone when they change their relationship status?
A couple of weeks ago, I met my boyfriend's roommates. Bob said, "First off, you're gorgeous," before going on to introduce himself. I was irritated and wrote an essay about why rather than confront Bob and convince him that I'm an overly-sensitive bitch.
I met my boyfriend's roommates for the first time yesterday. They are a couple (we'll call them Bob and Alice) and their teenage daughter. We chatted, played a game together and had a nice time.
I met this guy a few months ago (well, actually over a year ago, but we didn't realize that until last week) and we started a long-distance relationship. He moved to my city for work and we started real life dating a few weeks ago. I don't find him that physically attractive, but he is nice, we share interests, he is…
