I didn’t know they came in yellow. This changes everything.

I think you are right. Kia Soul is just about the right side of FINE. My friend just bought one. It lacks panache, sure, but it’s usefully fine and finely useful, and for that, it’s just very fine.
The most important feature of the Kia Soul, so far as I am concerned, is that you can still get them with a manual transmission. You can’t buy any Mercedes Benz, for example, with a manual transmission. So, for me, the Kia Soul is more acceptable to me than any MB currently produced.
My Kia Soul manual could only be had with the basest trim level and with the smallest engine (1.6) offered in 2016. It’s more luxurious than some luxury cars, the manual gearbox is a joy to row, and because of that manual gearbox, it’s one of the sportiest cars I have ever driven. It seats five and swallows up cargo…
Kia Souls are fucking great and if Americans weren’t insecure to the point of frantically committing suicide via autoerotic asphyxiation while furiously sobbing against the backdrop of “Proud To Be An American” played on endless repeat, they would be half the cars on the road. I’m prepared to die on this hill, fucking…
Exactly, they know more about K-pop and Kardashians than ANY sort of tangible insight on cool cars or what constitutes as cool.
That purple isn't real is it? It's gorgeous
99% of the people ripping on the Kia Soul on the interwebs aren’t car folks. They think the Mercedes G Wagon is the ultimate vehicle when we all know which car is always the answer
I got the original in 2009. We put 120k on it in ten years. Perhaps 10k of that were forest service roads. It was a beast. We popped a stove, dishwasher, and water heater in it on different occasions no prob. We traded it in because it was time, nothing broken ever, but it was time.
Kia Soul is the true successor of the Scion xB. Ticks all the right boxes
I like Torch’s maxed-out Soul, but if you instead put a sliding rear door it’d make a handsome successor to the Mazda5!
Don’t own but have test-driven the Soul multiple times and quite like it
Purple!!! Be still my heart. A really bright purple too!
Here’s the top reasons you said you hate discussions summarized as a slideshow.
You know what they say in Texas...El Paso.
1) That steering wheel is immensely stupid and was designed by someone who hasn’t operated a car. It might have some progressive steering where low speed, full-rotation maneuvers are handled so you don’t need to go 720 degrees, but come on.
Unless he makes a range miscalculation, the odds of him being stranded are waaaaaay lower than any ICE vehicle.
A well thought out and balanced post. We are in a new era!
And just tell your wife that you bought a new bread maker. She’ll never realize the difference!
I agree on Tesla and Musk dragging the auto industry, kicking and screaming, into the future. We can (rightly) harp on their quality, misleading marketing, showman CEO, but it would be hard to argue that vehicles like the Chevrolet Bolt, Hyundai Kona EV, VW ID.4, etc, would have ever appeared, or at least as soon as…
I’m not anti-Tesla, and I think the reporting about Tesla has been fair. Their cars have suffered from quality issues. I don’t like how their “self driving” cars have been marketed, because it has led the public to believe “Autopilot” (not actually autopilot) is more autonomous than it really is.
