I think the US is using Ukraine. The US didn’t want Russia to expand its invasion, but it didn’t use every tool to stop it either. The Ukrainians need our help, and are holding Russia to a deadly stalemate. But we should acknowledge that the US is waging a proxy war. We’re using Ukraine to beat Russia.
