Way to blame the victim, asshole. I wish negative stars (black holes?) were an option, cuz you’d get a million of them from me.

Rotary? Really?

The big problem with this is you have to drive around in a 1979 Datsun. I can’t imagine any trip of more than a couple hours where that would not get really old really fast.

Where are you finding these $75/night motels?

Wait, what?

I’m right in the demographic who might harbor some nostalgia for this car. I had  a ‘77, a ‘78 and an ‘82 Celica. They were pretty bombproof, too. Each one went 200K before going off to new homes. Which is pretty remarkable for cars of that era. But no way is that nostalgia worth $10k.. Maybe worth $4500 on good day.

I dunno what prompted you to comment on a 2 year old post....
Anyway, I’ve driven on interstates in 44 out of 50 states. I don’t know where you live, but it’s a big country and most interstates across the USA have at least a 70 mph limit. Just two weeks ago in Idaho, I drove a stretch of interstate with an 80 mph

Mid grade is made at the pump blending from the regular and premium tanks. Gas stations don’t have or need a separate tank for mid-grade.

Premium gas only = do not buy.

My 78 Celica slave leaked badly. Also the seal where the speedo cable went into the transmission failed. The cable acted like a pump and dripped gear oil all over my shoes and pant legs from the back of the speedo head.

Who you calling youngblood? :) I got my first Celica in 1980. My 77, 78, and 84 Celicas would all chirp in second. It taught me how to replace clutches.

Had a blue one just like it the one in your picture. In 1984. Nice car, very reliable, but slow as molasses by today’s standards.

My dad had the hatchback when I was in high school. These are good cars, even though they are slooooow by today’s standards. We drove a couple of Celicas from this era to 250,000 miles with no problem, so this thing has lot of life left in it yet.

You did miss the showpiece on the GTS Celicas: unlike the live axle GTs

Hooking up an LS to a FWD transaxle designed for 130 HP should be a breeze!

So you got only 9.4 mpg towing? I’m going out on a limb here and guessing you ignored the backwards ‘55 mph’ decals on the fenders of the U-haul.

So smooth. And they sound fantastic.

Neutral: Can’t Infotainment Systems Be Easier?

Fully one-third of the owner’s manual on my 2013 Subaru is devoted to explaining how to use voice commands to control the infotainment system. If you need that many pages to learn how to use a feature that’s supposed to make the driver’s life easier, perhaps you should

Velocity stacks are cool. Velocity stacks on a vehicle with mud and sand throwing knobby tires, still cool. But really bad for engine life....

How arrogant do you have to be to attempt this? I hate it for the car, but the owner might benefit from the (hard) lesson of not only losing his car but seeing it crushed.

Stuff like this is why I never argue with government officials on any border. Here in the USA the TSA, Immigration and Customs officials, and the

Babies grow fast. And in a few years you’ll need to carpool, and haul a bunch of stuff for all the urchins in your carpool. And then you’ll start making the 1,000 mile drive on vacation somehwere. The now bigger kids will really like their separate captain’s chairs in the back. Just get the van. You won’t regret it.
