I feel for you man. I’ve got a 2013 Outback that’s been just great.
I feel for you man. I’ve got a 2013 Outback that’s been just great.
Mea culpa.
It’s true a few have had troubles, blown out of proportion by the internet and not helped by SOA’s admittedly flat-footed response. I’ve had an FB25 for almost 5 years with zero oil consumption. I’d hardly say that as a rule they guzzle oil. It’s kind of like the Toyota engine sludge issue. I’ve got two of the…
The FB25 in this car has timing chains and is not prone to blowing head gaskets. What you are talking about was fixed a long time ago.
The base 97 forester had a 2.0L 120 hp engine. The turbos from that era made 170 hp.
Came here to say this. The FB is a good engine. They are not the head gasket eating monsters of yore.
No, that was only the Marauder. The standard engine is the 4.6 L Romeo V-6 making 225 HP. The car is pretty heavy and not particularly fast. The big issue with my son was finding a car with enough legroom for his daddy long-legs frame.
Screw giving your kid a sporty car to drive! Mine got boring but safe cars - Toyota Avalon for the daughter, Mercury Grand Marquis for the 6'5" son. And guess what, they are grateful for the cars they have and actually like them. Also they are cheap to insure, something a parent footing the bill should be very aware…
I work in a business that is highly regulated by the EPA. Our products are governed by an act colloquially called FIFRA. The Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act sets up the basic U.S. system of pesticide regulation to protect applicators, consumers, and the environment. I do have some issues with how…
I must disagree. If you’ve ever seen, heard, and felt one of those old V-8 McLarens tearing around a race track, you’ll understand. A race-built Chevy V-8 is a truly a magnificent powerplant, pushrods be damned.
My honest opinion is it’s never gonna happen. Never.
But let’s assume Uber builds a viable electric VTOL flying “car”, how much you want to bet they’ll be “disruptive” and start trying to operate the things without going to get any regulatory approvals? I mean, the FAA and the public shouldn’t be concerned with these…
Do not meddle in the affairs of giant trucks, for you are crunchy and and can be crushed by a knobby tire.
I always thought the 505 was a good looking car. I wanted a 505 STI in the worst way a long time ago. But the hard truth that they were terrible caused the scales to drop from my eyes and my desire was no more. And now you remind of that object of my desire.
Coasties won’t rescue your yacht, only the people aboard. If you want your boat rescued, better have a good towing policy or be prepared to get raped by the salvor. Besides that, anyone running a multimillion dollar yacht is a professional mariner. There are no owner-operators of $200 million dollar yachts.
WOuld have the fire department invoice you for cutting your injured daughter out of a car after a bad traffic accident? Would you have the smoke jumpers invoice you for saving your home from a forest fire? Would you have the police invoice you for solving a crime committed against your person or property?
My point is…
I know a few people who have been rescued by the USCG over the years. Last one was in 2014 about 5 miles off the coast of the Everglades in SW Florida. It was the middle of the night and one of the crew on a two-man sailing kayak/trimaran (Hobie Tandem Adventure Island) became very ill and had to be helicoptered out…
Actually, they won’t. The USCG does not charge for rescues.
No you don’t. Rescuing the stupid person is just as important as rescuing the prepared person using good judgment who got unlucky. That’s the reason we have a Coast Guard. We’re paying for them anyway and the incremental cost of saving a few idiots isn’t worth trying to recoup.
Putting a turbo on an engine with 180,000 miles and stock internals seems like a good idea. How hard can it be?
Mine was silver. I got the car with about 65,000 miles on it and drove it all the way to 195,000 miles before I let it go. Good cars.
