It’s also a brilliant final moment of levity before everything goes to hell in the last episode.

My favourite reaction was Erika just staring mouth agape. She’s a funny motor mouth all season, but this? This is too much. She has no words.

Steve and Robin momentarily forgetting the giant interdimensional flesh monster rampaging towards them is when it hit me that this show is really doing this and that I am down.

I’ve completely lost all faith in the AV Club if it’s true that none of them liked this moment. I was sure “grating” was just a misspelling of “great” in the headline.

Joyce’s reaction is the best, especially when they cut back to her & Hopper the second time and she’s still got her head against the wall.

And it was the 4th of July as well.

That scene was at night,so doubt the Hawkins Public Library was open at the time.

Thank you! I was initially put off by it — too much nostalgia can be oppressive at some point — but the fact that they really commit to it and STOP the show and have this succession of character reaction shots... for me, it transformed the moment. It went from just another cheesy “REMEMBER THIS???” pop culture

For real. This is one of my all time favorite movies. I’m not even (that) old! And ok, maybe you’ve never seen it, fine. But there’s no denying that’s Robert Redford.

Bless your heart.

Blasphemy! The “Neverending Story” duet was not only one of the most charming and entertaining scenes of the season, it was one of the most crucial to putting across the central theme of the season: the idea that in the face of oppressive pressure to stagnate and conform, it is actually good and valuable for people to

This. Cutting to everybody’s reactions was one of the highlights of the episode. They’re also damn good singers? I get maybe doing too much of a job of breaking up the tension of the scene but I was loving it.

Easily the best part of this awful season for me. It felt magical, like I was watching the first season for the first time again.

I loved this moment. I started to lose it when the music came in to back them and the reaction shots from everyone really, really sold it. Joyce leaning her head against the wall and Murray slowly turning with a confused look was fantastic. This whole series is and has been an ode to 80's cheese so this worked for me.

‘whole season was hysterical’

“Structurally, I understand why the Neverending Story scene couldn’t be a post-credits scene, but it broke the tension with merciless speed. Maybe that’s a feature, not a bug, for the series’ most sensitive viewers?”

I see your Tom Cruise and raise you a Nathan Fillion.

Or having kids, it seems...

Most people really dont have the judgement to be operating vehicles, at all.

Finally, a video that belongs on Deadspin.
