Yep, thanks for the correction.

One note about killing Elites - it ALSO usually gets you a fast-travel point. So if you can, kill the shit out of any elite you can find and it will make future questing and exploration a whole lot easier.
Also, Trails from Zero is legitimately amazing and I’m hugely pumped that it’s getting released here. The Trails series(es?) are all pretty great, and this duology is one of the best.
I’m really glad to see a new Star Ocean that might actually have good production values (though the hair on the main character is super skeevy)
SO1+2 are classics. 3 is great but very odd. 4 had a good combat system and music but the character design and story were just fucking terrible. And 5 was... low budget and…
Terminator: Resistance was one of my favorite games when it came out - not AAA, but it had a lot of depth and heart to it, and it nailed certain things about the Terminator franchise better than any other game about it. I’m really looking forward to their Robocop game just on that basis.
Eh. Crisis Core’s story was mostly really good, but the entire focus on Genesis was really weird and didn’t make nearly as much sense as they wanted it to.
But sure, I’ll totally replay through it again.
I actually had the opposite reaction. Obi-wan’s 2nd fight with Vader shows Vader that he’s still not Obi-Wan’s equal even after 10 years of Vadering. And he even mockingly calls Obi-Wan “Master” shortly before Obi-Wan kicks the utter shit out of him. It makes Vader’s comments in A New Hope more fulfilling.
Likewise,…
The Three Hopes demo seems to be running pretty well. GameXplain spent some time on it a few days ago:
Seems like it. Three Houses is going to get you a deeper view of the characters, but the plot and characterization in Three Hopes (in the Demo) is still really excellent.
Some of the plot points will make less of an impact (“oooh, that didn’t happen in Three Houses! I wonder what that changes”) but the story and…
It really depends what you’re talking about, is the thing. The big thing about switch games is that they’re hassle-free, and the Switch itself is much lighter and easier to cart around. The convenience improvement over the Deck is huge.
That said, there are absolutely a lot of games I’d rather play on the Deck. FPS…
The best comparisons are NMS or (weirdly) Star Citizen. With some big caveats:
1) We don’t know how big the worlds actually ARE. If they’re all skyrim sized or just a bit bigger in terms of walkable area, they’ll be more interesting
2) Creating Outposts might end up being the Big Thing while exploring. Maybe that’s the…
Mostly the “super large angry monsters fight each other thing”.
The focus on Summons is going to either pay off in a big way or just be very weird. Hoping for the former.
Does Chaos Gate: Demonhunter control well on the Deck? There are a lot of supported games that I’ve stayed away from because they seemed very clearly better suited to a mouse.
That said, I agree that the Deck is only sort of portable. The battery life is okay, but the problem is just how big the fucker is. It takes a…
I’m right there with you. The Switch is something I play a lot of and have since it released. I’ll get sucked into a particular PC/XBX/PS game, and then once I finish it I’m still playing Switch games. And usually playing Switch games at night even so.
It’s superbly designed. Honestly if they just made a new version…
You know, I love my Deck quite a bit and I’m enjoying it immensely. That said, I played it for two weeks straight and then picked up my Switch and then my Switch Lite and immediately thought “There’s a ton of games I’d rather play on the switch than the Deck”. It’s more comfortable and a lot more hassle-free.
The…
I’d be curious to see what this would look like if we could track emulation.
From what I can tell, a large amount of players are using the Deck to run old PS2/PS1 era games. The setup is easy and the performance is mostly spot-on and with visual upgrades. I’ve been using it to replay Dragon Quest VIII (for example)…
If I had to guess I’d say that a lot of the trolls aren’t just trolling. They’re saying racist shit because they like saying racist shit, but they don’t want to be called on it. They also get a kick of out pretending to be the victim when people actually notice what they’re saying.
Eventually they get comfortable with…
No, that’s true. One of them is being a disrespectful dickhead in public, and the other is being a semi-public disrespectful dickheard to people whose employment you control.
I’m underwhelmed. FF XVI looks good, though I guess they’re doing a Godzilla theme now for the game. Neat, I guess?
Stray looks amazing, though.
Well, he’s moved from “plausibly not a white nationalist edgelord but still probably one” to “bog standard republican who is also an edgelord”, so yeah.
