At least in the existing games, having that split between Lego and non-Lego objects is actually pretty helpful. It lets you know what you can interact with in the world and potentially cuts out a lot of scrabbling around for a puzzle solution.

Eh, the way I see it Sony aren't going anywhere, thousands of other people are pre-ordering and you don't really owe them anything. If they produce something you like, you buy it. That's all there is to it, and that's all they should be asking of you.
