@Demitrius James Pennebaker: Agreed. I don't deal a lot with fiction publishing, but my old campus book store used to have a poster provided by the textbook publishing companies showing where the cost came from. Most of it was from printing costs, but there was a huge chunk for "marketing" and the publisher's fees

I doubt I'd pay much more than $5 willingly, and if I'm going up to $10 I'm honestly no better off than just buying a paperback that doesn't require an expensive reader.

I always just did it while watching TV. Then I don't have to worry about my laptop falling over and its already my leisure time. Plus the time slots of TV shows make it easy to time your workout!

I don't care about morning breath so much, honestly. But I am pretty picky about others touching my tooth brush.

@charliekohler: I figure I'd probably get in more trouble carrying a knife than my pepper spray (funny story: I was allowed to carry my pepper spray into a government building but had to put my camera in the car).

True story: My college level interpersonal communications teacher talked about this technique a lot. Apparently she learned about it in marriage counseling.

@DutchessOfDork: This particular brand is called "Whoop-Ass." I'm actually not sure if it's street legal in Texas (although I can't imagine that they would stand for any type of restriction on it) but the guy who sold it to me in NC said it's actually about a 17% concentration compared to the 8% concentration in most

@DutchessOfDork: I live in Texas and don't have a criminal record. I could carry a handgun in my purse if I wanted. And this isn't Mace. It's actually about twice as potent.

Oh sure, we get to find out Sadie's post was mentioned but don't get a picture of it? Uncool, Dodai.

@rednrowdy: That was the best thing I ever learned from a romantic comedy about beauty pageants.

And ladies, remember to SING:

@Dorotea: That was Hollaback, it's linked in the post. Unfortunately, Hollaback Texas hasn't updated in 3 years.

They can pry my pepper spray from my cold dead hands.

@mbprice: Remind me to never shake your hand. Apparently it causes bad things to happen.

@Tea and Oranges: Yeah, no, I got what he was saying, but still. That's not how it was meant and that's not the connotation for 90% of the population.

@Blueberry26: The same is true-ish of the word "spastic." We had quite a few cultural issues on another forum I belong to before everyone finally accepted that it's an offensive word to about half our members (Australians and Brits) but the didn't bother the other half (predominantly American and Canadian).

@kellieherson: I don't know, having attended 3 different colleges and since I'm an intrastate transfer student getting to go see them every semester to register, I 'm inclined to think the caning is a pretty good deal.

@CynicalPink: When my brother went to get confirmed, for his community service we stood outside grocery stores trying to raise money for the Knights of Columbus. The vests they gave us, and I am not making this up, were bright yellow and said "HELP MENTALLY RETARDED CHILDREN" in giant orange letters. At the time, my

The White House responded that Rahm already apologized to the Chairman of the Special Olympics last week.
