Changing the classic "M3" body-style namesake to "M4" wasn't really fitting. And the i8 is technically the new M1... So, BMW doesn't seam to really care in that department. It's obvious that with their current linear naming convention... They never will bring back the M1. Why care about the possible namesake "M2"…
There wasn't just supposed to be development around the track but also inside the track. (More-so than Singapore or Abu Dhabi.)
