Typically, civil rights lawyers sue government agencies so there would be a conflict of interest to fund their work via taxation.

Well, yes. But civil rights law is its own practice area and those lawyers aren’t getting rich. Staff attorneys at some of the biggest civil rights legal service agencies in the country start at about $40-50k and max out well below $100k.

She got half the black in the divorce?

Depends on the state you live in. Some states have laws that allow the police to ask you for identification even if they don’t suspect you of anything.

I’m a civil rights attorney and you can be 100% sure that I teach my kids how to refuse police searches!

Who are these “wealthy civil rights attorneys”? It’s not exactly a lucrative field - even when you win.

That cardigan really is awful.

I don’t know this lady’s story but I can tell you that some of my tattoos are not easily visible to me (the ones on my back) but they’re also not there for other people. My view is that life scars you in a lot of ways (good and bad) and once in a while, you get to choose what those scars look like.

These people are super into straws.

Except that tattoos aren’t rights and tattoo’ed-ness isn’t a legally protected class.

Because tattoo’ed-ness is not a protected class.

Well, not quite. A bakery can’t refuse on discriminatory grounds (such as age, sex, gender, etc.). They could all refuse to make an ugly cake for any occasion.

This is not uncommon at all. Many tattoo artists would refuse - as an exercise of their professional judgment and experience.

I’m really baffled by the persistence of this “public bathroom” argument. As if any person who intends to commit a crime is somehow prevented from doing so by a sign on the door. If I wanted to abuse a child in a public bathroom, all I have to do is walk in. Nothing is there to stop me. No faking any gender identity

I love to bring flowers to my friends at birthday dinners!

Mine stopped hurting completely within 3 months. I don’t know of anyone that’s had the some experience you’re having.

Nooooooo! Unbutton your buttons! If you leave them buttoned, the fabric pulls on them and loosens their thread.

I had to break up with a guy like that. I never actually called him ‘a little bitch’ to his face, but I thought it a lot.

But that’s the joke, right? That single men who are actually decent human beings are shockingly hard to come by. I know it’s true but I don’t know why; maybe it’s regional? Either way, I guess the joke’s on me...

It’s not totally clear from the article but part of the rationale for switching off between Tylenol and Motrin is that one (Tylenol) is hard on your liver and the other (Motrin) can be hard on your kidneys. By switching back and forth, you’re taking less of either of them in any 24-hour period.
