I invert the Y axis. I invert the Y axis like a motherfucker. I cannot play a game where the Y axis is not inverted for the same reason you can't play one where it is: it feels broken and weird and my instinct for which direction to go is always wrong. Always.

Probably worth pointing out that Glover was in character, playing the same guy he played in a film that was coming out. It was a publicity stunt, in other words. Successful or not, it wasn't just the guy doing a random weird bit.

That is pretty much what I am denying, yes.

That's a way of looking at it, sure. But "consent" doesn't mean a whole lot if you don't have any choices about it. It's a kind of a "excuse me, sir, can I have your wallet, please?" moment. Sure, I'm giving you a choice about it, but if I have a friend with a baseball bat standing by in case you make one I don't

Funny thing about Daenerys Targaryen's consent, there's a bit of, you know, context to that. At the age of thirteen, against her will, she's essentially sold to be the bride of a guy who's the big boss pretty much solely because he's more brutal, violent and powerful than the other guys around, a guy who comes from a

...I should perhaps point out that the "stupid shit" at the end was intended as an item of its own, as in "stupid shit is one of the things I don't like," rather than a comment on Millar or Ennis.

@royaljester: Also, I think people can generally say and shit on whatever they want even if they haven't made any awesome stuff. Doesn't mean they get heard or are worth listening to, but...

This was nothing short of a fascinating read. I think people generally play games in order to have experiences, to be engaged by them in one way or another, and clearly that's precisely what this is about.

@Kamion: I can't tell you the exact date, 'cause it's a secret and I will be stabbed many times if I reveal it, but I can tell you that it'll come out this fall.

Frankly, I'm a little shocked. I don't know how anyone could claim that Alan Wake doesn't portray every single aspect and nuance of a writer's life in a completely realistic and authentic manner.

@CtrlZ: Well, if the Old Gods didn't hail from the 70s, they might well have had a little more of a death metal vibe. =)

@EyeR8: Oh, hey, thanks for playing it, man. I'm just glad you had a good time with it!

@Kenshi_Ryden: It's interesting to me that you brought up Alan Wake, because working on it I've of course gotten a lot of questions about it from friends and family, and I often found out that the people who didn't play video games were often very, very hung up on the fact that it's a video game. I typically described

@Sigma_Silver: Well, we do know that Wake isn't the only person who has found manuscript pages. Hartman, for example, had acquired some pages (which Wake gets his hands on at Hartman's office), and so had Nightingale. Is it really some kind of a predetermined thing that drives Nightingale to drink at that moment, or

@Uzumaki_Kiba: Well, I'm not really shooting it down as such, I'm just playing devil's advocate... from an admittedly unfair position. I mena, on the other hand, senile or not, they still managed to arrange a handy little distraction for Wake at the lodge, right? =)

@petethepanda: We have very friendly relations with PotF, so obviously we wish them great success. I think they did a particularly great job with the Old Gods material — it's not the kind of stuff they usually play, and that kind of versatility, not to mention their willingness to go a little outside of what I imagine

@Austin Walker: Well, that's a lot of stuff to comment on. Let's see...

@mode gone: You know, that's not an intentional House of Leaves reference, I don't think so. I wrote the text for that particular sign at a very hectic moment when I was busy with other stuff, and one of our artists came to me and asked for something to put there, and I just hammered that out really quickly. So I

@Austin Walker: Primer is a fantastic example of what I mean, that's exactly it. $7,000 — what's that get you in game development? It's not even a question of people accepting smaller salaries or something; it's just that modern game projects tend to be so labor-intensive that we're talking about a heavy commitment

@Mark Hengst: Oh, yeah, that's absolutely Agent Nightingale there behind Rose.
