Was his iMessage account associated with an Apple ID or his phone number? I think once you associate the device to an Apple ID, it can't be changed (as of yet) which is known. I don't believe this problem occurs when the imessage account is associated with the phone number.

I agree with you, if it was an israeli then they wouldn't have used an incorrect date format. Israel uses the dd/mm/yyyy format. It's nothing significant but chances of an Israeli using an incorrect date format are unlikely.

It's kind of strange that an Israeli would write the date format incorrectly. I know that they use the following format for the date in Israel.
