It's been way too long since I've seen this.

1) I suddenly feel like my fellow New Hampshire residents and I have been a bit neglected by Hollywood.

Better get that quick while I still remember the chord.

Am I wrong for thinking that it's really fucked up for something that costs and makes tens of millions of dollars to be a failure?

At the risk of turning this into Pascal's wager, why the hell not?

Actually, what he said was that most people purchased life insurance for a couple dollars a day, with the payout used for the service. Depending on the person's policy, that payout could be anywhere from a few hundred to a few million dollars.

I would actually argue that certain actors tied to certain genres are bankable: A romance with Julia Roberts or Richard Gere, or a comedy with Adam Sandler or Tyler Perry may not be good, but will most likely do fairly well from a financial standpoint.

That's been one of my longstanding hopes. I talk about the promise of life extention technologies, and my friend usually argues that when they become possible, it's only the rich and powerful who will have access to them.

Depends on what sort of jobs need to be done, and what sort of society you want to have.

I'm not sure how to feel about this, but I've only heard three of those.

I think you miss the distinction between "reason to make a show" and "reason to pay for somebody to make a show".

"Why do you write such strong female characters?"
"Because you're still asking that question."—Joss Wheeden

Why not? Let's write some better male leads, and then we won't have to be so protective of the few good ones we have. Let's write better female lead parts that don't feel like an oh-let's-have-a-chick-too last

CORRECTION:

Because we have MacGyver, Daniel Jackson, Jean-Luc Picard, and the Doctor. I really don't want to lose one of the very rare male lead characters who doesn't shoot first and ask quesions later.

"Time Lord science is elevated here on Karn...."

WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!?!?

I find it's incredibly satisfying to begin arguing from a further position than theirs, and start let them making your point for you.

Especially if you're Jewish.

I know for a fact that my religious tennets are metaphorically true.
