I usually take my documents to work and scan them myself at the office. The scanner can send me the documents via e-mail or place them on a folder on the network.
That's a habit I need to regain. But I always end up reading technical books...
I use Excel a lot at work. I use a lot of Pivot Tables - they're great tools. Prefer these over matrix formulas. The latter will slow down the processing on big sheets.
Why don't you use another map source instead, such as MapLink?

Strictly talking about contact apps, I recommend DW Contacts. It has a hand full of tools to manage groups, ringtones, find contacts by name, company, etc, etc, and has a good dialer. And it has a call-blocking feature with white/black lists.
I still use my Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, Android 2.1, rooted. I would love something like a SAmsung Galaxy S II or a Motorola Razr, or a Samsung Galaxy Tab, or Note.
