Thanks man!

Glad my blovating has ultimately resulted in an interesting conversation. Keep on driving and have a good time.

Names do matter, I’m just more flexible in the resultant output of those names. What it comes down to is if an iconic car goes away and then comes back the worthiness of that result is arbitrary. Even among continuing names there’s dispute, Corvette guys would choose arbitrary things like flip up lights or round tail

It’s debatable whether old Names are relevant or not. I’d say Challenger is more relevant than Barracuda, partly because it still exists. Would it have been better to leave that and the Charger nameplate on the scrap heap of history?

The “you’re an a**hole” bit comes from going up to someone and saying (basically) “Hey

Car lovers who look at fun, special, or good car and say it doesn’t deserve to be named after a legacy car are terrible.

Trunk swap with a WRX was literally my first mod.

I have a 2016 STI that I love, de-wang’d. Same requirements as you 4-door, fun.

I would recommend if buying now, get a 2019. These cars have the upgraded internals from the Type RA. Sure you can get one a few years old for $10k less, but tougher guts are worth it IMO.

I don’t know which Santa Fe you’re talking about. CA doesn’t really make sense. NM is worse, there’s not even an airport in Santa Fe NM. No team in NM makes any sense as the whole state is only 2m population.

This has been the narrative in the community and is false. The “WRX is a better daily” or “STI is only better for track” are wrong-headed narratives that need to die.

The STI is more raw and visceral feeling, and faster. Choose the one that fits within your features/price matrix. Just don’t try to pigeonhole the STI as

I feel like we have this already... what’s it called... trains?

What about rating the JDM Mk4 at 280hp forever.

The real question here is: what do they have to gain by underrating? So it’s either a ringer, or some internal reason they’re not saying.

I’ve said that it would be a perfect prestige series in this day and age.

Late model Pontiac GTO. 400hp, huge back seat.

The answer is: automatic transmission. That's what gets the acceleration times. Plus some launch control wizardry.

I find it somewhat odd that in this circumstance, Ford (the massive, wealthy carmaker) is considered a “scrappy underdog” in this circumstance. While Ferarri is considered the dominant big guy.

I would say that’s not exactly true. It’s about a race car driver from his dog’s point of view. There are detailed accounts of racing in the book, but like every move it’s about the characters.

I went through the same thing. Had a ‘03 NB, bought new, paid off then was going to turbo instead of getting a new car. All cars depreciate, however a NB is near the bottom of the depreciation curve. Maybe the turbo will turn people off, but basically you’ll spend maybe $4k on parts, get a car you like more. With a

So here’s the thing: in the early 90s, Supercars were essentially rocket sleds. They were all brutal in every way shape and form.

Now however, I don’t know how many Supercars outside of the boutique you can say that about. Ferarris are all very nice, Lamborghini, and Porsche as well. Even the McLaren, Ford, Audi, Astin

I think a huge part of it was that cars = freedom. In addition to that, a social life. In the pre-digital world, if you wanted to spend time with your friends you’d have to call or go hang out.

Now, that’s not the case. You can hang out digitally, with people who you cant reasonably drive to see.

The WRX, and WRX STI work for that calling. Not as comfortable to be sure, but they're roomy and fun with a manual.
