It’s Trump, the RNC and ‘draining the swamp’

Is Jez really doing a story about “how will the short little black lady swim”??? About the most amazing U.S. amateur female athlete? Yikes.

The notion that transactional intimacy is a form of unhealthy relationship seems like a culturally biased one. Aside from the fact intimacy and a relationship (in the terms you’re thinking, not simply an ephemeral trade relationship) aren’t necessarily related, I’m not sure there’s anything particularly unique about in

One can want to move forward without being ashamed or feeling shame about where they are. Assuming shame is the only motivator for improvement is one of the greater failings of many modern societies.

Eh, we’re living in a world where that’s all some people will ever get, and the last thing I’d want is to make them feel ashamed for making the best of a bad situation.

And that gated drum sound he used to use was the bomb.
Someone should bring that back.

Anyone who doesn’t think Phil wasn’t a great drummer needs to go back and listen to 1970s Genesis.

I think TLOU2 is not a perfect game, but I respect it a lot for what it tries to do, and my regard for it has grown in the week or so since I’ve played it. But I do think they should have trimmed quite a few of the encounters in Seattle, and I think it could have shown or told its character motivations a lot more

Karen, I don’t think you really understand what it is to be a Karen, even though you vocally possess all of the qualities of a Karen.

I think it’s less about fetishizing the folksy blue-collar folks and more a cynical exhaustion with the rest of the world and the more powerful that more or less run it (banks/corporations/tech bros/the GOP/the Dems, basically substitute whatever you feel is ruining the country here) and dreaming that surely, surely

I am fed up with the poor white people that Michael Moore and Bernie Sanders relentlessly chased. To see John Stewart also drink this Kool-Aid is maddening. They coddle these willfully ignorant people instead of calling them out for always voting against their own interests.

I am a boring-ass East Coast liberal. Politically, I am indistinguishable from someone’s aunt upstate who’s an amateur beekeeper and still has a John Kerry bumper sticker on her minivan. But even I find this movie embarrassing.

both jon stewart and steve carrell already feel like comedy stars from 100 years ago.

I tend toward really liking Summer and am annoyed when episodes carve out whole chunks devoted to Rick and Morty yelling at her, but during that harangue, I could not help but think, ‘Man, the acorn doesn’t fall too far from the bitch, does it?’.

I didn’t realize I’m not allowed to talk about what people post to a massive message board. I’m sorry.

I’m as huge a fan of Rick & Morty as anyone, but even clever self awareness has its limits. Literally saying you’re overwritten and stuffy, while being ultra meta, in the episode can only take you so far.

If you go back one or two reviews, I made a comment saying that maybe going back to the “simple” stuff after all the criticism of Season 3 was a mistake and Dan Harmon should go back on his meta bullshit.

I get what I fucking deserve, I guess?

My favourite was when Serac’s top super badass guy showed up with his Garotte it turned out his fatal flaw was that his spine was made out of pudding.

That might be the furthest I’ve ever seen a writer get up his own ass.  At the very least, Harmon deserves credit for that.

100% agree with Zack; that’s two seasons in a row where I tell myself “The people telling this story know where they’re going with it” and end up 2 months later realizing they absolutely did not. The last 30 minutes had me rolling my eyes at the Dolores pontificating, unengaged, just waiting for something for something
