This is all, of course, correct. But I think the hope is that we transition as much of our daily lives to electric power rather than gas in order to ease the transition into green power production. Are gas ranges more efficient than burning gas to produce electricity to power an inductions stovetop? Definitely. But

This is true, but it seems like people in this thread are confusing electric stoves and induction stoves. Electric coil stoves suck. But induction stoves are actually pretty great, have many of the same advantages as gas and have none of the downsides of electric coil stoves.

I think a huge portion of the arguments in these comments comes down to people referring to electric stoves and induction stoves both as electric stoves. Electric (where electricity is used to heat up a coil) does suck, objectively. Induction (which is the “glass covered” stove you’re referring to) heats up the pan or

I had the same issue!

The point isn’t that they can’t look guilty, or put on mannerisms we interpret as guilt. The point is that they aren’t actually feeling guilty. They can generally recognize when they’ve transgressed, and will engage in appeasement behavior to head off possible punishment. But it’s not guilt. They don’t feel bad, they

I disagree with your “emotionally manipulative tripe” take but agree with everything else you’ve said. The entire time I was playing TLOU2 I kept thinking “Why is this a game and not a movie or a TV show?” There’s nothing about the actual story that is enhanced by being a game; in fact, I’d argue the ending is made

Made *under* capitalism. Made *by* workers.

Movies can be about more than one thing.

I’m not sure how this is even a real take. It’s a movie about space wizards, not The Expanse. The Force doesn’t even have much internal story logic in the movies other than “it’s hard to use, you have to train to do so, and it can be physically taxing to do so.” Magic is magical, and Star Wars has always cared more

Because a lot of people (myself included) including many bloggers think TLJ is a very, very good movie? This isn’t a conspiracy, it’s a difference of opinion.

Seems to me it’s at least as likely that all of these tests are measuring some unknown variable as they are measuring intelligence or aptitude. I remember during LSAT prep being told that LSAT scores correlated strongly with law school grades, and law school grades correlate strongly with eventual success in the

I don’t think anybody’s suggesting that more highways cause more traffic. As I’ve heard it put, it is a supply and demand problem, where the supply of roads is always less than the demand to drive on them. But the argument is that the standard logic—increase supply—doesn’t work here because the demand is so high and

I agree that going to the doctor is only just now appropriate. 60% of couples successfully conceive within 6 months of trying, so 6 months is a good point to explore if there are medical issues. But I disagree that the episode leaping immediately to IVF and adoption was the right call. I would expect the doctor visit

Your argument is essentially “Assuming that these facts I’ve simply asserted are correct, and that you’re actually a lying liar, then I’m right and you’re a monster.” How is that an argument?

All I’m asking for is to be able to fit in the seat I paid for without someone actively trying to make that impossible. Others are asking that not only should they be able to fit in their seat, they should also be allowed to recline regardless of others’ comfort. Recliners are being selfish, I’m just asking for a

All that means is that you’re not a hypocrite. It doesn’t mean you don’t devalue other peoples’ comfort and overvalue your own.

Why do I have to pay extra when a regular seat works just fine as long as the person in front doesn’t recline? Why aren’t we telling people “If relcining is that important to you pay for business class.”

Hahaha the fact that you didn’t even understand the threat he was making is so telling of how ignorant you are about this whole thing. I’m skeptical you’ve flown even a handful of times at this point.

The fact that you think this is a fight over “extra” room and not just the bare minimum I need to be able to exist in my seat demonstrates that A) you don’t understand the issue and B) you don’t fly very often.

I think the person who wants to recline should have to ask to do it, not the other way around. That you see it otherwise implies that you think reclining isn’t impolite unless you are asked not to do it. I strongly disagree; reclining is always impolite but you can seek and receive permission if it’s important enough.
