Played it for about 20 minutes, escaped to the first village, got bored, and ended up going on a murderous rampage, killing all the locals and stealing their clothes.

Not just writing. All the performers are fantastic ad-libbers - which shows in interview situations, and the way they stay in character during outtakes... Which in turn makes them feel even more real.
