It's something my dad taught me a while ago - buy quality, top-of-the-line, and it'll pay itself back with how long it lasts and still works well enough.

..why haven't I hearted you yet?! Remedied.

22. Finally figure out this programming thing I've been procrastinating for days.

Good point, I hadn't thought of Media Scanner not running.

Do you have a file browser like Astro installed? My first guess is that your wallpaper somehow made it into a folder (or subfolder) with a file named ".nomedia" in it, which excludes any of the folder's contents from the Media Gallery. You could also just find the file with the file and tap on it, viewing in Media

I like Martini's idea, but have something to add - it may depend on what app you're using as well. Something like Gmaps will take a lot more data because it has to download the maps on the fly, while other apps have a complete set of maps already downloaded to your phone (just like a standalone GPS unit). You might

Great article, it'll be a good starter reference for all of those "Why should I root?" and "Okay I rooter...now what?" questions. Juuust getting their feet wet before diving into ROMs/kernels/radios/ect.

It may not win any beauty contests, but it has a lot of power and control in its UI. I'm glad the dev decided to focus on improving its functionality rather than its looks, personally.

Have you tried [market.android.com] ? Sounds like it does the same thing, and doesn't require root.

You can control *global* settings through those, but CM allows a person to target specific apps. For instance, you may not want a game to have access to the internet, but still want Gmail to be able to check for mail.

The problem with ROMs is that you can't really find one "completely stable". But if you mean one that works well enough, that's not bad. I'm currently running super_frankenclean 2.9 (android 2.2) with jt's 4/11 voodoo kernel, and I find it working great. Eeeevery once in a while it freezes and I have to reboot, but I

To those of you that pay for Evernote:

I'd never heard of Backblaze, but dang is that tempting. From reading, it's basically like Dropbox for your entire computer? Are there any gripes you have with it?

Ahh, my apologies, I read that as "it'll take years to need that much space" instead of "it'll take years to get that much data on a card that slow." Interesting argument though, I hadn't considered that.

I disagree - between CWM backups and the fraction of my music collection on my 16gb card, I've been keeping my eye out for a 32gb one. But yeah, if I didn't have those it would be rather empty still.

Yeah, no kidding. Yay for ReadItLater!

Pie, by far. Strawberry pie is my favorite, but other fruit pies are also good. And then there are pudding pies like chocolate! Cake.. I don't like a lot of frosting, and sometimes cake can be dry. Honestly, the only kind I like (aside from ice cream cake of course) is my grandma's chocolate cake, because her frosting

I third MediaMonkey. If you get the free version, you can download the encoding DLL so you can rip unlimited mp3's (one of the benefits of the paid version).

Welcome to Android!

What version are you using? Maybe they broke it recently. Or you could be right, I hadn't considered that. It's a new laptop as well, I'm still learning all the deep-down settings (especially for the wifi card manager). I'll definitely look into that though, thanks for the suggestion.
