I am not sure I am ready to analyze why but I think James Cameron's "Aliens" fits in very nicely. I can watch that over and over. It is interesting, clever, well paced, good characters, etc.

My comment about their possible friendship was specifically in response to a comment which implied that they weren't previously acquainted with one another.
