They feel so nice against your skin. So do camisoles. Real ones. I wind up using thin tank tops for that purpose but of course those aren't silky.

I get mine at Target or Kohl's.

It is hella hard to find slips. I can remember having like 2 stores where I could buy them and I haven't found one in ages. I literally have to wear them until the elastic gave out. Thank goodness for Spanx.

I dragged my 6-year-old son through the "Women's Intimates" department at Macy's last weekend for the express purpose of buying a plain, black slip. I described it to him as "a dress you wear under a dress." He pointed out many that fit that description, but I had to tell him that they were all too fancy. I did end up

I wear plain bias cut silk slips because I am an outofdate wierdo/have the secret knowledge. Very comfy, will last for decades if you air-dry them, make you look as good as possible in your clothes by making everything drape well, and when you take them off you look great, not squished, no red lines.

Not nearly enough (says the cranky old lady who is sick of seeing through women's skirts. I don't want to see the outlines of your thighs beneath your not un-sheer skirt.).

Unfortunately because of my name, people quote a specific line from this movie around me a lot, a lot.

Oh I forgot one we use frequently:

Aliens would be my top pick, not only for the sheer volume of quotable lines — it actually hasn't held up that well over the years for no other reason than that 80% of the dialogue has become overfamiliar catchphrases — but for the number of quotes (either originated by James Cameron or popularized by the film) that

Lisa is totally underrated. I love this scene, but her best moment is when she's onstage at the talent show with all the other performers singing "Join hands and hearts and voices..." Johnny hops up there to make his big speech and everybody stares at him and quits singing except her! She's still belting out "Join

I really love Stila Smudge Stick eyeliner.

Yup....our mistake for existing....

Name: Her (2013)

Name: Discovery (2001)

Beyond being 2 wonderful movies, I would say that both of these pretty well sum up how tech in the 2000's felt like it was leading to artificiality, isolation and alienation. It was the comedown after the giddy highs of 90's VR and internet worship, caused by familiarity and practicality.

I'm going to go ahead and make a judgement call that the mere mention of Pharrell Williams is enough of a Blurred Lines connection for me to post this. You're welcome...

Nope. If I were in charge of Jezebel, every story would be a 50,000 word meditation on one of the fine movies in Burt Reynolds vast film catalog and the site skin would be a collage of Burt through the ages. And we would "Burt-zebel." Obviously.
