Honestly, these sound like perfectly banal names in a Yoshiyuki Tomino anime. Actual line: “Marvel Frozen? That’s an American name.”

So Picard will be going back to season 1's “See this character you remember from the series? We’re going to murder him brutally!” model? What sick weirdo on that staff thinks that edgelord sadism and nostalgia are a good mix? Who wants to watch Starfleet Hostel?

I see word-swapping like this all too often, where the Japanese words are replaced with English ones, but with the Japanese sentence structure left intact. You can hear the original Japanese coming through. “Did you talk to him? That man...” That first example was clearly “Shinu na yo! Zettai ni!”

I was halfway through the second paragraph when I realized that the author was serious. Then I had a good laugh and stopped reading.

The important thing is that the author got to feel righteously indignant about something.

Hang on, I’ve heard the narrator in that “100 Lives” intro before. He sounds exactly like the owner/narrator of the Youtube channel Sacred Cow Shipyards, which focuses on - coincidentally - ship designs in sci-fi.

The only acceptable “shouty” option is Brian Blessed.

Prodigy is supposedly set almost 20 years before Picard, so I wouldn’t call them contemporaries as a basis for comparison.

It was only a matter of time before a megacorp went full Sovereign Citizen.

Reminds me of a Rolling Stone article I saw yesterday with the headline “Jan. 6 Committee Experiment Found TikTok Went from Zero to Nazi in 75 Minutes”.

If he’s hanging out in trees like that, he’s actually Dropbear Man. And that’ll put him in the same genre as James Gunn’s “Super” REAL quick.
