Ugh, I hate those damn things. I get them a lot, and when you also have a hair-trigger gag reflex, removing any cruft lodged back there is less than fun.

As introduced years ago on Goods Eats to quickly sear tuna steaks.

Nope, I’d go with “Instruments of Destruction.”

Man, the metallic shaders look fantastic. They really nailed their look from the movie. But will this leave children emotionally scarred?

To me, baking is a dark art. There are soooooo many variables that affect the outcome, right down to the humidity in your kitchen. I’ve never been able to get consistent results. Kudos to the wizards who have mastered it, though. (It doesn’t stop me from buying books like “Flour, Water, Salt, Yeast” and some of Peter

Agreed, the recipes tend to be fussy, but they’re both consistent and good. I make their shepherd’s pie recipe during the cold seasons each year in spite of the mountain of dirty dishes that result.

Yup, I’ve got that one... and way the hell too many of their other tomes. Seriously, the 2015 edition of the TV show recipe book can do some grievous bodily harm. Makes me real popular at holiday dinners and picnics, though.

It’s their “We make lots and lots of mistakes - and explain what went wrong and why - so you won’t have to” approach that won me over, and is what will be the most useful to novices. Most cookbooks just dump the ingredients and methods on you and call it a day.

And don’t forget to practice your spit-clicks - ie, making a saliva-drenched tongue click every single freaking time you pause.

I scrolled down to see this one. I got two calls on the same day last week (one from a man, one from a woman). My usual response to laugh and laugh and ask them if anyone is stupid enough to fall for something so obvious.

The America’s Test Kitchen Cooking School Cookbook is also a good primer.

Same here, though my complaint has always been “Why would I want to deliberately smudge and smear a display that I use when I’m working?” I don’t want fingerprint trails making it harder to see my work or what I’m trying to read. It’s not that I don’t “get” it, it’s a clear-cut negative for me. Mouse > touchpad >

So is it possible to output to these via DLNA or AirPlay, or are they limited to Sonos’ own media player and whatever streaming services are available inside their app?

I came across it just last year as a translation for dereru. It’s one of those things that will never, ever be removed from English textbooks in Japan. Because Japan has four seasons, I expect.

Good ol’ Crazy People.

Read up on Odin. Inaho loses an eye but gains “wisdom” in the form of an eyeball computer. He also pilots a mech called a Sleipnir. It’s not subtle.

The most important piece of equipment, of course, being a complete disregard for the safety of others.

I buy elsewhere for most things, but for staple items - milk, eggs, flour, sugar, butter - Aldi’s can’t be beat around here. Their prices were *really* low a while back thanks to a price war with Kroger’s affiliate Ruler Foods, but a gallon of milk for $1.59 (recent low of $1.29) and a dozen eggs for $1.29 (recent low

In the US, the TV shows are just an advertisement delivery system. It's the ads that matter, not the show. As long as the number of eyeballs it puts in front of said ads remain high enough, the show stays on the air indefinitely even if it ran out of things to say 10+ years ago (*koff* Simpsons *koff*).

Er, you might want to look up the works of Louis Gossett, Jr.
