Just came to see if anyone mentioned it. Thirty-two years old. Sad RIP Gilles Villeneuve.

I know, and I'm not criticizing you. It's just that there were great posts by Fathers, female bloggers, daughters, gf's etc., with a whole host of thoughtful responses to a somewhat complicated question. It was a great question to ask, and limiting the answers to just ten must have been difficult. I've also seen a few

For those of you that didn't see a host of answers when Orlove initially posted this question, I recommend going through yesterday's responses. He did a good job of summing things up, but many the answers from both men and women on his initial post are quite good. Scroll down.

One of my favorite off road racers makes an appearance on Jalopnik? Awesome. I am one of the few Jalopchick regulars and admire your work. Not just as a fellow female, but for your passion and enthusiasm. Yeah, girl, I stalk you in Twitter.

I can't even tell you how much my life changed for the better once I took that step. When you hang out with your friends, you tend to form an echo chamber. Sometimes that's good, sometimes it's unhelpful reptitive nonsense. Going to the store or walking around the block might not introduce you to knew people or ideas.

Only if you promise to not post pictures of giant coconut crabs;)

I'm not a tech person, but do most of my work from home and am pretty introverted. One thing I would suggest is starting your own interest group. That way you can set up any rules or guidelines and focus the discussion. I did it. We meet once a month with July and August off, and stay in touch via email in between.

What one? "Jump?" Tee hee.

Ha! How awesome would a History of Motorsports course be?

History. On this day in 1923, the first LeMans 24-hour race was held. Image and h/t to Hemmings Motor News.

Jalop chick number three chiming in. See my post above, but you're right. Just act like it's no big deal.

Nailed it on the last part of your comment. He was riding on a country road in Colorado when a truck hit him.

Exactly. You can't force what's not there whether it's cars or anything else.

Nope. They also learn how to work through their problems themselves. The good news is, I'm quite close to both of my brothers.

It's not as bad as it good have been. See my reply to Turbineguy. He can no longer ride as that position puts too much strain on his back. He can walk and things like that, but doesn't live as full as life as he once did.

The police did get involved. It was a horrific accident. I can't remember the final charge, but there were several. Leaving the scene of a crime, hit and run and I think there was prescription drug abuse involved. The driver only received a few months in jail but my Dad's friend's back is permanently messed up and

Lulz! I'm sure your wife will thank you when you're on road trips and the two girls are punching each other in the back. My brothers and I used to get the ole' "if you don't stop hitting each other, I'll make you sit on your hands." That's because we also played, "two for flinching."

One of my Dad's biking teammates was knocked into a ditch on a solo early morning ride. It was a hit and run, but they found the driver anyway, curtesy of the Ram logo and part of the grill that was now tattooed on said teammate's broken back.

Do what my family did and start early. My Dad showed my brothers and I a little about cars. He acted completely natural about it. Everyone who owns a car should learn the basics anyway.

Yes I did. I also posted it on the oppositelock forum to bring it to the attention of the Eds. Promoting does not mean approval, as you have probably seen from certain threads. It is a way of expressing your opinion. In this case, I posted it early enough so that the commenter had the option of deleting the comment
