Your advice is dangerous. A full format just does a read-verify, it does not wipe the disk. See my response to info1478 for more info.

A full format DOES NOT SECURELY WIPE THE DRIVE. All it does is a read-verify of every sector. "Deleting files" DOES NOT SECURELY WIPE THE DRIVE. All it does is mark the disk sectors available. To securely wipe the drive you need to use DBAN, Heidi's Eraser, Roadkil's Disk Wipe or similar. One pass is sufficient.
