The Verge article says it has “nearly 700hp”. Grip, aero, gearing, power/weight ratio are more important than horsepower alone.
This is a modified race car, it’s not based on the P1 road car. It has KERS , like all hybrid race cars.
Better and less bumpier tarmac, faster turns. The track has steadily become faster over the years.
Chris Harris did an interview with the McLaren chief engineer, the reason they never posted a P1 Ring time is because the P1 can’t do a full Ring lap without depleting it’s batteries, since the car doesn’t have regenerative braking, as opposed to the 918.
Porsche already has the Ring record with 6:11 , with a 956. I’m sure they could make one street legal 956 and be just as fast as the race car was, with new tires, modern suspensions and brakes, better aero, etc.
Actually, due to upgrades in tarmac quality, the track is much faster now than it was years ago.
It’s not a production car, it’s a modified race car.
That Silverado thing looks awful.

It’s funny you say that, because Hyundai and Mercedes swapped designers, they all went to the same design school and both companies have their design studios in the same town.
It’s just a blade, they’re huge.
