There’s a guy who has been standing at the corner of 17th and Pennsylvania with a “HONK TO THANK THE WHISTLEBLOWERS” sign during the morning rush hour every weekday for the last three weeks.  God’s work, I tell you.

I figure this is your last piece before they give you the axe. I’m a middle-aged Luddite without any social media, but I’ll try to follow your writing wherever you land. Thanks so much for putting together columns like this. You’re a funny, insightful writer and your work is invaluable.

The thing that I like best about David Roth writing about Trump is that he writes it at such a level that, if Trump were ever actually arsed to read it, he could not possibly comprehend it. Unlike the Boaster-in-Chief, David really does have the best words.

I watched the whole press conference Sunday and it perfectly demonstrated this. He is a gaffe-prone moron. And then the political shows tried to suss out ‘what he meant’ and what any of this means. The answer is NOTHING! He is that stupid and he is unable to have any meaning beyond “I am great, I do great things!”

Underrated comment, this. Boosting the signal.

Also, and not to sound like my toddler, Trump started it! Nobody would chant “lock him up”, as well-deserved as it is, if he didn’t lead those chants at his rallies. Without his chants, people there would have just booed him. That’s it.

Fuck, man, the paragraph that begins with “As with most of Trump’s attempts at Presidentiality...” is a god damned masterpiece.

The least interesting parts of this story are the parts that are about sports.

This whole thing is a delight, as always, but “buttery germaphobe” is somehow even better than the 800 other amazing descriptions Roth has run through over the years, and again, I don’t know how he’ll top it (but he will).

David, I wish to register a complaint. You’ve filed this story to Politics, but this is erroneous, as this is clearly a Sports Story.
