Agreed, this deal was actually progress in terms of bipartisan cooperation.

Those same teachers who now have better benefits, god I feel awful for them.

And the owners are donors to Obama and Hillary, but sure that is the only reason it passed.

OMG, without funding an antiquated tenure system they should probably just shut the doors at UW.

So the Clinton and Obama donor owners are now going to fund Walkers PAC.

So

Thank you. Other than this deal getting approved, this post made my night.

The amount of people not from Wisconsin that give a shit how we spend money is crazy.

Agree completely.

As an actual Milwaukee resident I feel quite the opposite

John Oliver has certainly made a nice career by doing the same bit every week, just change the target.

I had to laugh at the 10,000 figure as well. I’ll still take a less than breakeven deal to keep them here.

I have argued that point. I think it is easily worth $200 Million or what will amount to about $30/year for me to keep them here. I think the relevancy of the city nationwide is improved by having them here.

Except that Peter Feigin was just repeating what the NBA has been saying since the ownership bought the team.

It also has an obsolete HVAC system that was supposed to be state-of-the-art, but never caught on. Now the company that makes the coolant is out of the game, so they have to retrofit. The immediate costs (for the poster who pointed this out) is $25-$35Million and ~$100Million over the next 10 years.

The immediate cost is $25-$30 the ten year cost is $100:

I’d take break even and the retained relevancy as a city. There is no doubt that living in a city like Milwaukee has led me to have an inferiority complex, and I’m willing to pay $30/year to help address that.

It has been studied in Milwaukee when a current arena needs $110 M in repairs (the HVAC system is obsolete and one of a kind that is no longer made). Yes, the growth of revenue from sports arenas has been debunked, but you are on the hook for $110M either way. How does that impact the math?

Companies base it off the ability to recruit talent and talent wants to live in cities that have fun shit to do.
