I’ve made the same calls and emails. I hope it works.

Also the new owners (in no small part bc of arena funding) are trying to do a much better job of making this a WI team instead of a Milwaukee team.

I think that may be changing, but I contend that the Bucks and NBA are really only a small part of why this is important. From a city perspective (especially an admittedly second-tier city) having pro teams keeps you relevant. When a company decides where they want to locate they look for amenities that they believe

Mine is not new, I just care more about this topic than I do about Oddibe McDowell’s Water Bill.

Sorry, I didn’t take it personally against me. It was just that the first 6 comments were all singing the same tune. That has changed, so the egg is on my face.

I’m not sure if this was brought up, but the owners themselves can’t move the team to Seattle or Vegas. Under their agreement the NBA would buy back the team for $25M more than they paid, and they do not have the option to re-buy. So the owners (who yes, could contribute more than the 1/2 they are in for) are tied to

Sorry, $30/year. I’ll pay that to keep the Bucks.

Or putting hotels and parking where it currently stands.

Fair point, I thought I read that they would just take what they can get, but you are correct they may be forced to the Panther Arenea/Mecca.

Yes, just north of the current Bradley Center in the former Park East land.

Loss of jock tax exceeds the cost of the tax payer contribution.

It goes well beyond a sports team. As an admittedly second-tier city, things like pro sports teams matter when companies decide where to headquarter. If it costs the state something to help keep the city prominent, I’m all for it.

As is usually the case on Deadspin, the author chooses to publish only those comments which agree with their narrative while the rest remain pending.

Given that it doesn’t sound like you live in Milwaukee, why do you possibly care how we in WI spend our money?

As a fellow WI resident I agree completely.

Keep in mind that unlike Lambeau Field or Miller Park, this new arena would also get used by Marquette, the Local Minor League Hockey team, and for concerts and events. I have no problem using some of my tax dollars (yes I’m from Milwaukee) to pay for a portion of this arena.

LeBron James is rarely funny.

Are they flying coach, circa 1994?

I had the realization last series that 5 of the 10 least likable players on the planet were all on the court at one time: Blake, CP3, DJ and then Harden and Howard (J Smooth gets honorable mention). I wanted the Rockets to win solely on the basis of less is more. I hope the Warriors win each game by 80 points.

How is Tim Marchman race baiting different from when others do it?
