I’m not defending it wholly. Swappable batteries are awesome. But I’d say the Switch is quite repairable, including battery replacement. It has an iFixit repairability score of 8/10.

Adhesive on batteries has been par for the course for a couple of decades. Whenever I’d swap an old iPod battery I’d need some isopropyl alcohol on hand.

Compared to most hardware these days, swapping out the battery on the Switch is a doddle. It involves 16 or so very accessible screws, and mostly chunky, easy-to-handle components. The hardest part is dealing with the adhesive that holds the battery in place (some isopropyl alcohol does the trick).
