It’s all up to the individual. My wife rarely uses makeup. She just puts it on a few times per year when she feels like “dressing up”. I’m fine with her not wearing it. I’m fine with her putting it on from time to time. It’s her face.

In my case, self-reflection would have been of limited value. The bullying (even when it was verbal) was targeted not just at me, but at my younger brother and friends.

If you’re constantly bullied, it gradually breaks you down until it destroys you. No matter how “tough” you are, what happens in the world around you affects you subconsciously. If you’re constantly told you’re worthless, you will begin to believe it.
