The WiFi issues are due to the fact that the Switch, as a handheld console, doesn’t have the heavy-duty shielding that is typically found on home consoles. Once you place it in amongst a whole lot of other RF interference sources (in your entertainment unit), the internal circuitry is bound to have issues.
Really, Airplane mode on the Switch really isn’t needed at all except for takeoff and landing.
I really can’t see other handheld devices outperforming the Tegra X1 in the near term.
