I like playing games on a handheld. Because I don't own a TV.

You can get away with sub-par technique if you chop up your movie and turn it into gaming cutscenes. Gamers aren't too discerning when it comes to the quality of cutscenes, and the fragmented nature of their presentation means that poor pacing is of no concern.
You can tell a story much more effectively through a movie or a book than through a game with long, drawn-out cutscenes.
I've got the same problem in real life. There's so many more quests I can complete from my parents' basement, I refuse to leave until I get 100% completion.
