I think the frustration that people have is precisely because of the “special treatment” officers receive and qualified immunity, and how that routinely gets abused. Be it by officers themselves, prosecutors, the DA, judges, police unions, etc. That’s what leads to a breakdown in trust between the community and law

I’m sorry, do you think that unions only work through public statements? You harangued the writer for not providing reasons why it took the prosecutor 15 months to charge the cop (as if that information was in a public ledger somewhere) and then you claim the union would never defend the guy?

The delay in prosecution happened because he’s a cop. His continued employment whilst he sat at home eating doritos happened because he was a cop. He has a long history of driving offences, which would have got him fired in any other job where he had to drive a car regularly, but didn’t, because he was a cop. You’re a

If an accountant did this they’d have been charged within days, immediately fired, and would have been in jail for months at this point, you absolute meathead.

The mental gymnastics on display here are just wild.

When there is literally no defense to the indefensible, the bootlickers inevitably just start plugging their ears.

ACAB isn’t really about the individuals (I mean, it can be, but whatever), it’s about the character of the group as a whole, and the system they represent. I.e. it’s more of a structural critique than an individual one.

Well, two months ago they did in fact report on the woman who blasted her Mercedes through an intersection at 90ish MPH, so yeah.

No shit. I could use a year’s worth of vacation, but I don’t want to crash into a kid to get it though. Unless it’s a goat...they deserve to end up on a grill as cabrito or road kill. IDGAF.

The idea that the police union would really go to the mat to protect this officer after something so egregious and indefensible, while off duty, doesn’t pass the smell test either.

But we can at least agree that this cop was in fact bad, no?

Have a star, I could not agree more.

A public employee being paid for 15 months of vacation after murdering a child, when his entire job is to enforce said laws, is a whole lot more relevant than some random accountant doing something atrocious.

Yeah, the ones that get fired for leaking footage of how their former co-workers killed a guy by freezing him to death.  But I guess they’re technically not a cop anymore, so then no.

I’m not a cop but I would like to know more about this “paid administrative leave,” situation I keep hearing about...

Well, you know what they say, “The good apples spoil the blue line.”

Castro’s rap sheet when it comes to motor vehicle offenses is extensive, with multiple crashes and citations for speeding...

The ones who run in to save all those kids at the school shootings! Oh... wait.

Well I am sure there are good apples too right?
