Or it could be that morality is completely subjective or at the very least highly dependent on culture, time period and context. To the point that any people discussing it without previously having established rigorous definitions of what exactly they’re talking about are just playing word games.

Genshin Impact is the most widely-played open-world game globally.

Souls games are competitive in nature, even if you dont PvP.

So yes. Overcoming your own self limitations by thinking, and not by acclimating, is part of the charm AND part of the game design. You are free to run back as many times necessary while thinking what went wrong along the way.

That’s, ironically, the actual reason you git gud.

Find all the lanterns as 90% of the time there’s one right near the boss chamber.

Saying “no games should have an easy mode” is gatekeeping. Saying “it’s fine this game doesn’t have an easy mode” isn’t. Look, I’m of the opinion that it’s fine that From games don’t have a difficulty selector, because I think we need to let creators be free to do what they want (as long as it’s not actively harmful -

I have no obligation to defend views I haven’t espoused. The discussion is always about gatekeeping to some people.

That’s not the same as it always being about gatekeeping.

Yes it does, for certain games.

At least Dark Souls and Bloodborne LIVE from that fine balance between risk and reward. Make the reward worse and the game becomes less fun, make it less risky and the game will not be as satisfying.

Sure, you could play those games with 200% health and 50% more defense, but then the game

“I don’t want something” is not the same as “No one should want something”, or “X shouldn’t exist”.

And you obviously can tell the difference, but you’re doubling down anyways so you can claim to be morally superior.

It’s not gatekeeping to say “I would prefer an experience custom built by the game’s director.” It is gatekeeping to say “Developers who had difficulty settings are making a mistake.”

There’s a huge gulf between “I like X” and “people who don’t like X aren’t real gamers”

They literally said the word “Personally”,

Again, Souls games already have an Easy mode. It’s called playing as the mage build lol

I get some people feel having a difficulty choice is to their liking. But do keep in mind, it’s a matter of personal preference. We all played games with and without difficulty option, and we can’t say it’s better with/without that option, and all games should / shouldn’t have the option, because the option itself

These additions seem nice and the damage reduction could be nice for learning attack patterns but I think removing the lose xp on death does sort of remove the whole shtick of these kinds of rpgs. I mean without that they really aren’t that different than a non souls rpg, albeit one with shittier checkpoints.

Yeah those people who want an easier game don’t deserve to play Elden Ring. They don’t know what’s good for them. Hopefully this mod will convince them that if they want to “enjoy” the “game” they will have to put in the time and effort. Maybe they’ll even realize that Elden Ring isn’t a game but a form of

To an extent it is, but I’m also pretty sure Miyazaki himself agrees with that sentiment given public statements he’s made on the games’ difficulty and even directly on adding in an easy mode.

I’m fine with it existing while understanding why Miyazaki doesn’t add it. The entire Souls franchise is built around struggling to learn and do better. A part of the “experience” he is trying to get the players to have is the feeling of struggling, learning, struggling, learning, relief and excitement when you clear

That’s not Sony’s problem though, like, not even a tiny bit.

Luke, do you have any friends that are strippers? I suggest asking them what they think. Is it okay to have sex during a lunch break? What if it’s with a sex worker? What if you look at porn? Is that OK? Or is it only wrong if anyone else is there from the office?

Usually I’m on your side of this issue, but for this particular example, I kinda agree with the OP. Maybe I’m not educated enough or something and am missing the nuance. I’d love for a further elaboration to build my understanding.

As far I gather, as long as they keep their unprofessionalism out of work, that should

Yeah agreed, this seems offensive to both people who work in that industry and patronize it. The other problems are serious, this one seems more like an issue with how people view strippers/pornstars.
