I had hoped immigrants (legal, illegal, or some other middle area) would be provided council regardless (so the court should be responsible for that I would hope). Though I have since been informed that courts commonly allow leave for these things (medical or just a vacation).

My point was why should the court (who aren't the employer) be responsible for working around that. Though I've now heard that courts commonly work around these. So apparently this judge is an ass.
