I am not a fan of splitting movies, because most stories don't have enough content to be made into 2 movies (or 3, like certain children's book); if you have something heavy like Stephen King's The Stand, fine make a trilogy; but Superhero movies? Specially a superhero movie that follows Man of Steel?
Pokemon anime is not set in an exactly real place, but the first game is set on Kanto, a real place in Japan; most of the other regions are based on places in Japan, and all the characters original names are Japanese; so to say that they are white because Satoshi got renamed "Ash" is just not gonna work
Fry only slept with his grandmother, you can do that without time travel; you can have sex with yourself, not in real life (yet)
What I mean is that Anime characters are drawn as normal people, normal people being Japanese; most Anime assume the audience is Japanese and will read the characters as Japanese. Now, Caucasians are not "normal people" so they are drawn to look distinctive and not normal. I hope you get my point now.
If you actually pay attention to Anime, you would realize that characters that are supposed to be Caucasian are blond with small square eyes and strong jaws, looking completely different from the characters that are supposed to be Japanese; what I mean is that no, Anime characters aren't drawn to look "Western", they…
Japanese people living in Japan likely don't care about American movies because they see people like themselves everywhere in Real Life and in movies made in their own country. Asians in the USA? That's another story, they are treated as foreigners in their own country and don't usually see people who look like them…
I can't imagine why someone would think a person called "Motoko Kusanagi" would be Japanese; it's not like it's a painfully Japanese name or that Japan is terribly homogenic race-wise.
This is the obligatory "Why not Rinko Kikuchi?" post; she's Japanese like Motoko and a confirmed badass, she can carry her own movie. And I think she deserves more opportunities
I've wanted a show or comics like that for ages!
Han. Leia and Luke don't look nearly as decrepit as they are!
A problem with looking at history is that most people take what is written as the objective truth; it's not, history is the past as seen by whoever wrote it. Most of our history is written by men, men who didn't care much for women; it's not that only now are women doing stuff, it's that the stuff done by women has…
That is an excellent point. But that still means that Artificial Intelligence can't have the same moral codes as humans. So we can't expect them to be morally superior to human beings
I have a problem with everything about this article, but I agree with those 2 being the big ones. Well those 2 and assuming AI is superior to human intelligence when we can't create a robot that mimics insects properly
No it doesn't! Morality is painfully subjective, sure we have a few agreements but at the end of the day good and bad depend on the person; a moral ideal doesn't exist.
Okay let me tore down your entire article with a little help from Rob Ager:
Also there's the fact that in execution, specially in visual media like movies and TV, the trope can become kinda racist. Like the "special, unique humans" are overwhelmingly white while the aliens are based off cultures that aren't white (or played by actors that aren't white)
It has proper borders! And territories of all sizes! It's like a real continent divided naturally into nations!
Aw! Teddy Ruxpin is awesome! When the weird amnesiac dude turned out to be Teddy's missing dad was one of the most amazing moments of my childhood!
OH MY GOD! I Totally remember Kissyfur! I could never remember the name, but I remember bears living in a swamp.
