Damn it, Game of Thrones. I didn’t even watch the show, yet my mind read “they have Game of Thrones to do a better job of hiding it from the rest of us.”

Agree on the bagels.

Yeah we caught his accent being closer to the real thing too.

So Republicans are trying to make AOC the face of the Democratic Party because, why again? Like, do they think that having a young, charismatic, intelligent person who has proven herself extraordinarily effective at communication is going to hurt Democrats?

Reminds me of when John Simon debated Siskel & Ebert about “Return of the Jedi” and suggested it was stupid for people and that parents should take their children to see “Tender Mercies” instead.

My grandmother survived the Holocaust by being smuggled around German attics. Jojo Rabbit was my favorite movie of 2019. This is an appalling take on a movie that tells today’s kids what being a Nazi looks like and how to stop being a Nazi, by putting it in a frame they will actually pay attention to.

my takeaway was definitely different.

I mean, were you really watching Knives Out for “the twist” though? I didn’t spend any time trying to figure out who the killer was because it didn’t really seem like the main point. I assumed it was probably Chris Evans and was interested in how he would get caught.

1. Those were Belgian Malinois, not German Shepherds.

Is that sarcasm? Most of us love Star Wars despite the iffy writing, not because if it.

I am a non-critic regular person who was around when the original trilogy was in theaters and who enjoyed TLJ. I remember young Luke Skywalker being extremely whiny, and it makes complete sense that he’d turn into a disgruntled old hermit. It confuses me that more people don’t see it that way.

I think the baby had her mother’s trainer’s eyes, not traitor’s eyes.

[Ice T walks in]

This is only tangentially related but am I the only person who wants to see something with Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Paget Brewster just being snarky bitches to each other?  It might be the greatest piece of entertainment ever produced

In the long run, The Hunger Games is going to end up celebrated with the likes of Farenheit 451 and Brave New World. I’m on board with this. For a pop-series, the books are unusually insightful and provocative about society, individualism, and the false myth of a heroine or hero. This sounds great.

Counterpoint: I do want to be touched by Keanu Reeves.

“Daddy, why do we celebrate Keanumas”

I think it’s like Johnny Utah angry shooting into the air instead of at Bodhi.

"Why do you have two copies of Anger Management?" is probably my favorite line from this episode, and it was during the freaking credits. But man, I laughed for a solid two minutes after I heard it.
